Towing
- the last resort!
Problem:
- Engine or gearbox fails you
- Have been involved in an accident
- Don't have a spare tire.
- Unable
to start, pushstart or jumpstart your car.
- Brakes have failed.
1.The money way:
Call a tow truck
Or join the AA.
2. The I'm-broke way:
Call a friend to tow you
Make sure at least one
of you has a tow rope.
If there are hooks on
both sides of the rope, simply attach it to the relevant tow-bars.
Simple enough, but remember the
following:
- Your handbrake must be down.
- If possible, stay in the car to steer it.
- Keep the rope in a straight line.
- If you don't have brakes, you'd better use a tow-truck, which
will have a solid tow-rope.
- If the rope is longer than 1.8m, tie a red cloth to it.
- The maximum distance between the cars must not exceed 3.5m.
