Towing - the last resort!

Problem:
  • Engine or gearbox fails you
  • Have been involved in an accident
  • Don't have a spare tire.
  • Unable to start, pushstart or jumpstart your car.
  • Brakes have failed.

towing

1.The money way:
Call a tow truck
Or join the AA.

2. The I'm-broke way:
Call a friend to tow you
Make sure at least one of you has a tow rope.
If there are hooks on both sides of the rope, simply attach it to the relevant tow-bars.

Simple enough, but remember the following:

  • Your handbrake must be down.
  • If possible, stay in the car to steer it.
  • Keep the rope in a straight line.
  • If you don't have brakes, you'd better use a tow-truck, which will have a solid tow-rope.
  • If the rope is longer than 1.8m, tie a red cloth to it.
  • The maximum distance between the cars must not exceed 3.5m.
